How We’re Doing Market Research Without Spending a Dime

RememberItNow! Innovative eHealth Survey - We're Listening

A Smart and Cheap Way to Do Market Research
RememberItNow! was built with direct input from patients and caregivers. By taking the patient’s point-of-view we are making eHealth easy for patients of all ages. Thanks to input from our beta users we know we are on the right track.

As we get closer to launching RememberItNow! it is just as critical that we get insight from a variety of industry professionals.

Traditional market research is expensive and time-consuming. As a bootstrapped start-up, cash and time are in short supply.

With a budget of zero we had to get creative. The result is the first online survey built on a Prezi that leverages social media for distribution.

Three Market Segments
To clarify the benefits for each market segment we designed three different Prezi presentations.

* Employee benefits: human resource professionals, benefits administrators, employee benefit services, company owners.

You can watch the employee benefit presentation here. It’s fun and fast.

* Long-term care: owners and administrators of long-term care facilities, nursing and residential homes and assisted care living facilities. Watch it here.

* HMO’s and medical groups: health informatics specialists, healthcare administration and management and healthcare CIOs. Healthcare pros, tell us what you think.

Built with Free Tools
Two online tools were used to create the polls. Prezi, the revolutionary, flash-based presentation system was used to create the dynamic overviews. Prezi presentations can be quickly shared via a link, or easily embedded into a blog.  Both these tools have free versions and they work really well.

Distribution Through Social Media Networks

I’ve worked in marketing for more years than I care to admit to. One of the challenges I’ve discovered when working with start-ups, is that I’m called in right  before the product is set to launch. The expectation is that awareness can be built overnight. The CEO usually says something like “Just send out the press release”.

Good luck with that. If that’s all it takes, they don’t need me.

I swore I wouldn’t make the same mistake when I started RememberItNow! I have made some other miscalculations, but we’ll talk about those later.

Before we wrote a single line of code, we started building relationships. These relationships have become the foundation for distribution of the survey. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and friendly bloggers all help to get the word out.

Watch the Prezis & Take the Poll
We’ll be promoting the survey over the next few months. I read every single response, and early feedback has been rewarding. Respondents have been very generous in sharing their professional insights on our concept, what they like and what we need to do better.

The polls are still open, so let us know what you think. We’re listening.

* Employee benefits

* Long-term care

* HMO’s and medical groups
