There is nothing more frustrating that putting something in a “safe” place, and then forgetting where you put it! But, forgetting where we put things or the directions to someone’s house that we have been to a hundred times before may be something far more serious than simple forgetfulness. They may be early warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia. According to WebMD, symptoms include problems with memory, judgment and thinking, which may interfere with the ability to work or handle day-to-day activities.
Alzheimer’s disease is progressive, meaning the symptoms start off quite benign, and get worse over time. To date, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, but there are ways to treat it. To follow are 8 warning signs of Alzheimer’s that you should be aware of:
- Asking the same question over and over again.
- Repeating a story time and time again, sometimes even word for word.
- Forgetting how to do things that used to come naturally to you, like cooking or cleaning.
- Losing the ability to balance your checkbook or pay bills.
- Getting lost in familiar places.
